Spring Ring Production Process

The production of spring rings on Ciemmeo machinery is not carried out by a single machine, but by a coordinated line. The line is divided into five main phases and uses four different machine groups. Starting from a cored tube, the line can reach a production speed of 60 finished pieces per minute. Below you can see how every phase works and which Ciemmeo unit is involved.

1st Phase
Forming of the spiral MFS

A cored tube is automatically fed into the MFS unit, which forms a continuous spiral. The spiral is then wound onto a spool so that it can be easily loaded on the next machine of the process.

2nd Phase
Cutting of the single shells
FAM

The spool with the spiral is loaded onto the FAM unit. This machine performs two operations:
– cuts the spiral into single cored shells, creating the typical “C” shape needed for the spring ring movement;
– cuts the window opening on one side of the shell, so the latch handle can protrude.
Finished shells are discharged into a tray, while shavings are sent to a filtering system.

3rd Phase
Shell emptying and logo stamping
LSM

After the chemical removal of the Fe core, the LSM machine stamps the required logo or purity mark on each shell. Compact, fast, and precise, it ensures perfect traceability before the shells move to the soldering phase.

4th Phase
End ring soldering
MSSA2

The empty shells are loaded into the MSSA2, together with a spool of solid wire. The machine manufactures the ring and solders it to the shell by gas flame. According to the production needs, the ring can be soldered in plane, at 45° or 90°, open or closed. The soldered shell/ring assemblies are discharged into a container.

Why a complete line matters
Using all Ciemmeo units in sequence allows the customer to keep dimensions, weights, and speeds under control, starting from the tube up to the final spring ring. The result is a constant output at 60 pieces per minute with limited handling and higher reliability of the final jewellery component.
