This video shows a complete automatic system composed of multiple synchronised machines that work together to produce finished spring rings with precision and consistency.
The production process is divided into five phases and uses four main machine types – MFS, FAM, MSSA2, LSM and MMA2 – all designed and built by Ciemmeo to guarantee full automation, efficiency, and minimal material waste.
Five Phases Of The Spring Ring Production Process
The Ciemmeo Spring Ring line represents a fully automatic production system capable of manufacturing up to 3,000 spring rings per minute.
The entire process starts from a cored tube and ends with the complete assembly and testing of the finished spring rings.
1. Spiral Forming – MFS Machine
The process begins with the MFS machine, which automatically forms a continuous spiral from a cored tube.
The spiral is wound onto a spool, ready to be transferred to the next stage.
2. Shell Cutting – FAM Machine
The FAM machine cuts the spiral into individual cored shells and simultaneously opens each one to create the characteristic “C” shape for the spring ring.
It also cuts the window opening for the latch handle.
All waste is filtered and collected automatically.
3. Core Removal – Chemical Process
The shells undergo a chemical process that removes the Fe core, leaving an empty, lightweight shell.
Ciemmeo offers an optional enclosed system for safe and efficient core removal.
4. End Ring Soldering – MSSA2 and LSM Machines
The MSSA2 machine, assisted by LSM laser soldering technology, manufactures and attaches the end ring to each shell.
The soldering can be done in-plane, at 45°, or 90°, depending on the design.
Each ring-shell assembly is soldered and discharged automatically.
5. Latch Manufacturing And Final Assembly – MMA2 Machine
The final step takes place on the MMA2, which inserts the spring and latch into the shell and carries out full functional testing.
Eight synchronised stations on a rotating table perform all operations simultaneously, ensuring maximum speed and precision.
If a spring ring does not pass the quality test, it is automatically discarded, guaranteeing the reliability of every finished piece.
